I really enjoy writing and one day I hope to be a success. However I have no support or encouragement from anybody. My husband says I've got my head in the clouds and my dad thinks I'm wasting my time too.

Writing Poems and stories is a good skill, don't waste it and do it. In past everyone went against the good discoveries. So don't worry I am here to support you :)

Thanks and best of luck for future.

When I told my parents I was going to college to study English, they thought I was going to be a teacher. When I told them I wanted to be a writer, they told me I was wasting my time and should focus on getting a "real job." My home life got to such a point that I slipped into a depression and almost dropped out of school. Then for a course in African American Literature, I read Harriet Jacob's "Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl." It was without a doubt the most inspirational book I have ever read. At that point I realized two things. One: I was very lucky to have the life I have, and not to have suffered the hardships that women in the past endured. Two: You don't write to be famous or make money. You write because you have something important to say, and so long as that message gets through to one person, then you are successful.

I'm a regional representative for the International Women's Writing Guild. The Guild hosts a lot of events throughout the year, and many members host "Kitchen Table" gatherings where women writers can get together to support each other.

I'd also recommend joining some writing forums. You'll find lots of writers have similar problems.

As for me, yes I do have a "real job." However, I also now run my own indie publishing company, Bards and Sages. The company actually turned a profit last year (YEAH!), but more importantly, it allows me to do what I want on my terms.

People also thought that Barbara Streisand would never be successful as a singer, that the Beatles would never get a fan audience, and that after the radio was invented it would be impossible to be any more innovative. Keep doing what you believe in. Literature and the arts are the most easily BS'd subjects, but at the same time, enlighten the human mind beyond just facts and data interpretation. Literature is the human mind put into words, and it is something no machine can produce. What you are doing is important, don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

Many poets and writers who became well known in later years got the same treatment. Keep doing it, (as long as you're not just writing drivel) but there are other things in life that require attention too. Don't neglect your other duties, if your just wasting life sitting around killing time.

It sounds to me like you have the support of somebody who you could always count on. YOU! Write and keep your head in the clouds...and good luck.

Don't let anyone tell you you are no good in anything- write something ( story, poem) and submit it to the people involve with writing and only they can tell you if its good or not-
And let me tell you something if this would happen to me I wouldn't even care if it wasn't good ( to them), all that would matter to me is that I wrote it and I like what I created.
Have a nice day!
