I understand it's way more stable and reliable and simple, but I also understand it's not quite as powerful but it also doesnt have malicious software programmed for it that slows it down.

I only play one computer game, does anyone know how well a decent Mac would play WoW?

I can say Can is best in handling any programs. For games get a Macbookpro or a iMac which really powerful. U can run Windows on a Mac so u can play that ONE games same as u do on a windows pc. There are lot of games for mac too. And Macbook pro is claimed to be the Best Windows PC too. "Apple MacBook Pro 'fastest Windows XP notebook'"

Mac OS X is the Mach II kernel from NeXt, wrapped with BSD goodness from the DarwinBSD project. But, with either boot-camp, or, paralells, it runs Microsoft on it's Intel Duo processor system, with little or no errors. You'd love it.

There are a total of 30 something exploits and proof of concept trojans for the entire Unix, BSD (Mac), and GNU/Linux universe. All but 4 were limited and restrained to laboratory testing. The 4 that are in the wild can only attack those machines that are running as root on an open network, with no firewall.

All the 'Nixs have built in protection, run default firewalls, don't open all ports(like Microsoft does! LOL!), and most of us also run a very fast http://ipcop.org on a 350 to 800 Mhz Pentium Class machine.

So, although the 'Nixs run all Microsoft.com and MSN.com web servers, via Akamai Linux servers, and Hotmail, Google, Reuters, the NOAA, Yahoo.com, the Fortune 1,000 corporations, 165 National governents, and 84% of the Internet, all run on 'Nix, and get attacked the most, there are no significant failures.

The 'Nixes are toughened for this purpose, to communicate on networks. Plus, they run upto 50X faster than Microsoft on the x86 hardware, due to superior programming.

Now, I fix Macs, and PCs, and run http://pclinuxos.com on almost everything there is that can take an OS. It includes Wine, and the trial version of VMware is OK to grab, plus, too much more to describe here, so, check out the forums and home page.

If you are a typical Microsoft Windows user, and really just want to play games, then you should either learn about the 19,000 games in Linux, ( http://transgaming.org/gamesdb ) as it runs on your current hardware, but 50X faster for most processes, or just stick with Microsoft.

Remember, you should run a hardware firewall, such as http://ipcop.org on a separate comuter tower box, headless.
It has the ability to run honey buckets, Spam Assassin, Dan's Guardian, transparently. Immune to the "114,000 Microsoft Virus Definitions".

have always thought that MAC is the BETA of computers. I can remember when VCRs were threatened by BETA Max. The problem I think is the numbers. No one will be willing to chunk over the cash for the Mac without being sure it will not be a thing of the past in a few months.

well theres lots of viruses out there for pc and mac the new ad campain says 114,000 last year alone fot a pc Not for a mac they dont specifiy the exact number that mac had, macs are purely gearedtowards music and movie editing and you cant really upgrade them but the beauty of the pc is you can full upgrade it at anytime you like macs are terrible if you want a really stable os that wont have as many issues as windows or mac go for linux, the reason that pcs have more viruses is because windows dominate the market and mac are second place these new mac ads are funny but only telling half truths

You need to define terms like "better" and "powerful" - it all depends on what you want or need.
