My husband and I are also trying to name our baby. it's difficult when you're looking for something uncommon, but not too out there. anyway ... it depends a lot more on your family's cultural background which i don't know. But I'll be honest, when I first read Zephyr it sounded like something out of star trek. if you like it though, don't let ppl try to talk you out of it. His personality will grow and define him much more than any name. i wish you good luck with your little one.

It is a beautiful name I almost named my son that almost 14 years ago. Only thing that changed my mind was that there wasnt really any catchy nick names. I think when I looked it up it ment gental breeze? That was a long time ago though. I say go for it and good luck.

I like it! In todays age of unique names and odd spellings, children either need a totally different name or totally traditional name to be remembered (by the name only, of course). Congrats!

I rather like it. There aren't enough names with Z in them, and this one has the advantage of being an actual word which people know (and will therefore hopefully be able to spell and pronounce), rather than being made up (and therefore needing constant explanation).
Congratulations, by the way!

I don't like it. I feel it is sufficiently out of the ordinary that it might cause extra harassment. On the other hand, if your last name is strikingly common, it is well to have a somewhat unusual first name.

I like it. It will set him apart from the other children. Unless everyone on here decides they like it. Then maybe everyone will start naming their child Zephyr.

I'm afraid it is NOT a Native American word. It comes from the Greek 'Zephyrus'.
Don't believe me? Have a look.....

It is a nice name by the way.

Very nice name. You can name him Zephyrus & call him Zephyr for short. That way later on in life he can put Zephyrus on job applications etc...and it sounds stronger.
Congrats on your baby!
God Bless!
