hi all what is files type and where is check mark i dun know anything how pls help.

Since a disk drive, or indeed any computer storage, can store only bits, the computer must have some way of converting information to 0s and 1s and vice-versa. There are different kinds of formats for different kinds of information. Within any format type, e.g., word processor documents, there will typically be several different formats. Sometimes these formats compete with each other.

Hello, the "file type" can be determined by the file extension. For example if you file ends in .exe it is an executable file. If it ends is .doc it is a document file. This is important to your computer because the file type determines what application or program to use with that file. Another example is what file types are used with Windows Media Player or Quicktime. Files that end in .asf, .wma, .wmv, .wm will work with 'Windows Media Player. .qt and .mov formats will work with Quicktime.
Right click on the file and look for the "open with" choice in the menu. Then place the check box beside the program that you want to open the file with.
