I have been at the same job for six years. I chose this job for security, regular pay, benefits and such. I used to get paid every Wed. then it went to every other Wed without any discusion and has gotten worse ever since. It's been 5 weeks now since I've been paid. I need the health benifits (my daughter too), but I really need to be paid. I work in the construction buisness, it being winter I can not find another job. What should I do?

Talk to your manager, boss or owner and find out whats going on. You need to know the truth and if they seem like their hiding anything, talk to the Department of Labor for your state and file a complaint. If the business is going under then you are just delaying the inevitable by still working there. If you quit you might not have an unemployment claim though so you need to either be fired or laid off etc.

I would tell exactly what you just said, to your boss: "I have worked here for 6 years and I have received my payments every wed, but from the past 6 weeks I haven't received nothing despise the work I have done".
Don't ask for nothing, just tell him this, otherwise he will use it as an excuse against you. Don't ask why haven't you been paid or something like that. Don't make any question, just report the facts to your boss. "You work for them for over 6 years, have received your payment on time and there is 5 weeks you haven't gotten anything". Plain and simple. Good Luck.

There is nothing wrong talking with your boss and present your situation. You, indeed, deserve what you should get. If things get worst, report it to the labor department.
