someone just gave my son who is 4 a kitten.
they know I will be me the one to look after it, they know I already have enough with 2 toddlers and I hate cats on top of that!!!

should I keep it? is it bad manners to get rid of it?

Well, my birthday is on the 27th this month so im expecting gifts from everyone since i actually told them from the first of february, but the worse was from 2 years ago which i got 5 same stuffed bears from 5 different people and guess what THEY WERE ALL THE SAME ONE, i guess there was a discount or something heheh.

Anyways about the cats, if you dont like cats and you cant take care of them then give it to someone who wants a kitten for free.. or in a shelter as you like

I would Keep it for a few days then give it away to a good home

A cat or any animals is not a good thing to keep around toddlers, I certainly wouldnt because you are already having to watch your own kiddies without having to worry about a helpless kitty being dangled from its tail because your child thought it was a toy (And it is not a toy, whoever got the present has not thought about it obviously) and dont forget you gotta train the kitten etc, and am sure you dont have time for that.

I think it would be kinder to give it to a home that could care for it better, giving it their undivided attention instead of a squeezed 7% attention, after all it is a kitten, like a baby it will need lots of love and attention. And lets face it, you dont have 3 kids, you have 4 (incl your husband lol) so u definitely dont have the time!

the worst birthday present I ever got is not to get a present at all.

anyway, if you're not comfortable keeping the kitten, just get rid of it, besides with two toddlers at home the cat could make them sick or something

I'll try to answer these "issues" in order that you wrote it.
Worst present........none............it's the thought that counts
You said you'll be the one to look after the kitten.......it's not the cats fault....and they really don't require much....pretty self sufficient animals.......kitty litter box, food, and water....for the bare minimum....but i suggest some toys too. You said you hate cats...........but the cat isn't for you........it's for your son......he may love them.....and after all.......it's his birthday. The kitten is going to be nothing compared to the 2 toddlers.......it'll get potty trained fast, and will not require any attention from you whatsoever.....it may want it.......but doesn't sit and whine like dogs. Your only argument is that you hate cats...........because "looking after them" is a joke.....they take care of themself. Just try it out......you might actually like it once you've been around it........good luck

I don`t be attentive to approximately acceptable or worst, however the main unusual merchandise I ever won for my birthday in a September became right into a Christmas pudding from my first mom in regulation. She knew I enjoyed Christmas pudding and he or she had one left over from the previous Christmas. I ate it besides!!

They should have asked you how you felt about it before they gave your son a kitten, especially since you don't like cats. Tell them that you appreciate their kindness, but you are unable to keep it.

For your son, try to substitute something else in its place;hamster, gerbil e.g. , before he gets too close to the kitten.

Dont keep it.. take it to the Vet and ask him/her to find another house for it. Dont put it in the streets
I hate cats, even in houses where are kids.
Havent you ever heard about TOXOPLASMOSIS????
Read something about it....i'm sure you'll want the cat far away from your son.

By the way...the worst present was not to get any

No, take them to a VET but don't keep them in the streets.

For me the worst present was a key chain which was ended up being broke.

My father, who is notoriously thrifty, got me a book listing scholarships available for my 18th birthday (summer after I graduated from HS), because part of my parents divorce settlement was that he'd pay for us kids to go to college.

Depends on HOW you get *rid* of it. I hate that word. If you do, TRY to find the kitty a home instead of putting it in a shelter where it will be *put down* if it is not Adopted. The kitten will be good for your child as they grow up together, and I am sure you have a good heart. PLEASE DO NOT PUT IT IN A SHELTER, PLEASE.
