Would a bad sound card cause only CDs and DVD's to not play properly, yet mp3's WAVs, Line -In and everything else sounds OK?

Brand New CD player...just downloaded the latest driver....no other players work on this computer...worked just fine about a month ago...wav, mp3, line-in all work...

I should add....the discs will read and play, but very slow and choppy, and its not the discs.

1.verify you have right driver, for the Operating system you

2.reinstall driver

3. if u just installed the DVD drive make sure there is a cord going into the sound cord.

4. Take it back, there usually to inexpensive to repair
