Yeah, that's worded kinda strange. Usually the term "combined share" is referenced in market or share activities. But I would imagine it is the same...combine shares are the total amount of all considered...so yes, you would add them all up and get a total amount...

Right--add the populations of the Americas, and then divide by the total population of the world--and express the answer as a percent.

U need to add up the population of both the continents...and then compare with the total population of the world to get the right answer.

You already got it. Just add the population of North and South. I agree that the question is put weirdly though. Lol.
