I don't see why some people think that making a joint celebration is a good idea..it should be special.
I know a relative who got married on new year's eve..everybody hated the wedding hahaha!
Your thoughts?

I wouldn't mind getting married on a holiday...as long as it is not a gift giving holiday, like Valentine's, Christmas, or Bdays... U might get jipped on a gift

Nope, because I like to get gifts on as many different occasions that I can. why would i want to combine a day so i only get one gift for both occasions!? plus, i also think it should be special... if you have kids later, you can't find babysitters on holidays like v-day and such cuz they are all busy with thier own holiday plans. you have to drag along the kids, and just imagine taking a 2 year old to that fancy restaurant where he asked you out? lol, people are crazy!!

I hate joint occasions cause my birthday is two days after Valentines day, every year I end up disappointed on one of these days cause my husband cannot be in a celebrating mood twice in three days!!!

My husband and I don't celebrate holidays or occasions but he did propose to me three years ago on my birthday. My husband and I would celebrate our marriage on the day that we officially became a couple. I really don't care what day they celebrate because their only days and they really don't have meaning except for when you wake up each morning which is a blessing all in itself.

no i wouldn't. I only really celebrate around about 4 holidays a year, you know Christmas, my birthday, new years eve and Easter, like millions of people do. That's only 4 days out of 365 to look forward to, make as many new ons as you can

ok - new years eve is a bit much - who wants to be stuck at a wedding on that day - even i wouldnt want that..

but i have always wanted to get married on my birthday.. i just think it would be cool to have a wedding cake and then my hubby surprises me with a birthday cake, then gets like a surprise guest (preferably a famous singer or so) to bring it in and sing happy birthday to me... awwwwwww.... i'dve wanted that to happen like THIS year coz my birthday falls on a saturday this year.. **keeping fingers crossed**

I got married the sat after thanksgiving. That will make it easier to remember the day year after year. There's sooo many special day and b-day for us to remember (with children later), I just want to make it easier on both of us.

It's important to avoid the "one gift" rule. If you combine two events, you get one gift. Seriously, people who get married on or near a holiday are inconsiderate.
