Well ppl where comparing Buju Banton's Til Shiloh to Bob Marley I guess as a more modern day version...

I own the album its great it has many classics on there. Untold stories is really nice. As far as I know only the Til Shiloh album of his though, where he is doing his 'rasta' thing other songs/albums of his are not all rasta orientated. Please note that Buju has a much corser voice than Bob Marley, do not expect to hear Bob Marley its more the song content they where reffering to I think. This may not be your style but Mr Vegas "Heads High" album is great/excellent (to me) its not as hardcore as other dancehall/reggae but these are more 'recent' artistes ie late 80's/90's to present, if ur talking 70s music I havent a clue. Dub and Ska I cant help you with. Buy the monkey Island cd lol. Its got that feel to it. I have it....;-)

Any of these albums you can get a sample listen on Amazon.co.uk I know that for sure. You might be able to search a song on youtube.com you may get to listen to the full song or songs before you buy to see if it's your taste.

Go to the site below which has so much about Reggae, plus links to related sites - 'The style of reggae Bob Marley made famous is called roots reggae or roots rock reggae, and is still used by many artists such as BLACK UHURU, BURNING SPEAR, CULTURE, ISRAEL VIBRATIONS, THE SKATALITES and TOOTS and THE MAYTALS from Jamaica and UB40 from the UK. In Jamaica however, new styles are more popular, among them: Lovers Rock, Dancehall and Raggamuffin. Dub is an instrumental sub-style of reggae. Mixing techniques employed in Dub probably influenced Hip hop, Drum and Bass and other styles. In any case, the toasting or dee jaying of raggamuffin reggae - first used by artists such as DIILINGER or YELLOWMAN .......'

Trojan Records has amazing reggae/ska singers. They have really good box sets.

Pama records too.

as for new stuff... try The Rythm Doctors- Reggae Injection.. good contempory reggae/ska/dub. The Aggrolites are also a really good contemporary reggae/ska (dirty reggae) band.
