URGENT: in telecommunication, how can I express in english "to put the call down"?

I am not a native speaker, I need to write a sentence in english that says: if such and such happens the system needs to put the call down. What verb could I use to espress more properly this concept?

to "disconnect"

"Ending the call" is the most appropriate respectful term.
