I'm sure you can overdo it. Sometimes when you strip the skin of its natural oils, you can cause it to overcompensate by making more oil and making the acne worse.

Another problem with a lot of acne treatments is that they are very harsh, causing irritation and allergic reaction, or worse infection. Maybe what you had wasn't true acne at all, it was some sort of pimple causing rash or infection of a rash.

I do suggest that you wash at least with plain warm water and scrub gently (small circles all over your face, even more careful around the eyes) every now and then with a washcloth. This keeps the skin clear of dead skin, so the new skin cells don't get blocked causing a breakout. That and protect your skin with sunblock. Other than that, you are right on. Less is more. I wish more people knew this. We spend tons of money on crap that experts say we need...what we need is confidence that mother nature gave us everything we needed a loooong time ago. A healthy body and a plentiful earth. We are the ones screwing it up by thinking our natural body functions are wrong. I feel similar anger about feminine hygiene products. A healthy woman with proper hygiene doesn't need deodorants, etc and using them actually initiates the problem. If she only knew she was fine she wouldn't bother with it.

Back off the soapbox, we screw things up by destroying the plants that can help us, and polluting the environment with things that no human body was designed to fight.

Sorry, congrats on the healthy face!

For years I have only used soap on my face when it's REALLY dirty. Plain water works fine for everyday hygiene, and my skin has been much healthier since I stopped using soap. I didn't have acne, but my skin was very dry and itchy when I used soap on it all the time.

i bet that in a few days you'll break out like twice as bad as you had been when you were using proactiv and other facewashes...this has happened to me.
