My Cd s and DVDs play real sluggish and choppy, and they didnt used to do this at all. I cleaned the lens, nothing. I assumed the device was just crapped out so I bought another one, brand new. It is doing the same thing. I have an onboard sound card, and a realtek onboard audio driver and I even downloaded the updated driver for it. Still doesnt work? What could it possibly be??

I play the turntable all the time just fine, its connected to Line-In. If it was the sound card, wouldnt that not work either??

Sounds like spyware, virus or low on memory.

It sounds like you're low on usuable RAM, like it's using the hard drive as virtual memory. It's easy to test, open Task Manager and see if you're using more memory than you have installed.

If so, either add more RAM, or stop so many programs from running. Start, Run, MSCONFIG to see all the programs starting. Stop them if you want (except you virus scanner!)

What's your ram speed. be sure that u don't run other software while listening to CD Audios because sometime when u browse/run many software at a time then your ram started to behave like this. If your ram's speed is good then i think it might be your sound card problem or it is infected by virus.
Thanks

Make sure DMA is on for your CD drive, and the CD in question isn't too scratched up.
