Depends on how fast you're swimming, or alternatively, how far you swim. For instance, running a mile and walking a mile burn pretty much the same amount of calories. Although running the mile will take a lot less time.

If it is a full 50 min worth of swimming at a good pace (rather than a comfortable grandma swim) it will probably burn 500-700 calories.

Not being funny, but it depends on the person. Its going to vary on how hard you swim and how heavy you are.
