Basically overly emotional. Like if someone is freaking out, or getting really angry, or just plain acting weird. It also describes when someone is on a drug and they are stoned.

If someone assumes something....or says they are going to do something that YOU know THEY are not....you tell them THEY ARE TRIPPIN...that means you are implying that they are misled....or that you will not allow "that"...............
My daughters will come to me and TELL me they are going to go somewhere ( when they should ask) ...my reply " you are trippin'" sometimes I will tell them "you must have bumped your head" which implies the very same thing.

Either tripping on acid...and having a good time. Or someone who is over reacting to a comment or issue...either way, not a good thing.

they are freakin out about somethin stupid....like if they get mad about something dumb you just tell em to quit trippin...

it depends on what eles is said. it is old school slang for having a really good time, or taking acid, or is out of his/her mind. it comes from taking a trip.
