Well, everyone seems to have gone for the actual text, but looking at my copy, I see that the first word, from the title page, is actually "the" (The Holy Bible), and that the first word of the actual text is "Genesis", the name of the first book.

There was no 'word' till it was spoken. So the first word found in the bible is "LET".

I don't know about Bible but would like to know.... I know what was the first word in Quran.. It was "read"....
