I suppose that depends on what possibilities you believe in. You could state scientific beliefs (on the facts humans can understand today)....But the way I see it.: First, to see the human perspective of time moving, whetther in a linear pattern or a circular pattern (As the Mayan calendar). If we move in a linear pattern then there is a beginning and an end. But, throughout we change (scientist call this one evolution), however I dont quite see it that way. Ok in this change we discover and rediscover new "facts" . If you are a spiritual person, meaning you believe in a Creator or more than one Creator, then this is the only constant in knowledge. (Meaning your brain and my brain, at optimum working capacity can only know the same amount of information, though we are all different and this is only measurable so far in theory) However, God would surpass this limit. Think of language of the human race versus DNA (code), if youve taken speech class you understand that language is a code. Now if this is true, then it would be left to the timing (although I dont think God dwells in time) of God, though if God surpassed us to this extent, I'm thinking this Supremacy could conquer even our horrible pollution, war, famine problems. Now, looking at time from the circular (the past repeats itself,Mayan calendar)perspective we could say one of two things. The earth will end in a couple of years when the calendar ends,(it has predicted right all kinds of events in space). Or it will begin again, considering the circle has no begining or end. What amazes me is our audacity to think we know so damn much, ya know? Remember energy can not be made or destroyed, or so I've been told. So, it will all work out in the end:))

Current thinking is that if the Human Race does not blow itself up, or casue a catasrophy, then we may have about 7 million years of existance. I would like to think that the human race will continue onwards to the stars and beyond our Galaxy. If you have seen the film First Contact with Jodie Foster, I would like to think this is how we would be invited.
As for the Earth itself, it will be swallowed up in about another 4.5 billion years by the sun, when the sun becomes a Red Giant.

The existence of the world is to me like the existence of time. One cannot say when it began or will end. I think the world is eternal, humans might not last forever i.e like dinosaurs ceased to exist but earths existence is forever, it may evolve, change etc but fundamentally it will still exist albeit with different life forms and conditions.

If you mean the world of which humans are a part of, We will blow ourselves to smithereens someday.
If you mean the earth itself, as the sun burns, it loses mass. As it loses mass, it expands. In a few billion years it will expand to a point wich will engulf the earth. The earth will 'melt' - totally.
If you mean the universe, the universe started out from an infinitely small and infinitely hot point and was called the Big Bang. It has been expanding at a faster and faster rate. As it expands, it cools. Someday, in billions and billions of years, it will expand to infinitely big and infinitely cold and this will be the Big Freeze.

The world is time. Time is eternal. The world is eternal.
It will never end. The forms of life may change, planets may be destroyed but the whole world can never end.

I think by your question you mean the world as we know it... I think we will build systems or beings which are superior to ourselves, then bit by bit we'll be forced to hand all control over to them. Think Terminator, but going out gradually with a whimper rather than a bang. You can view it as an eternity in retirement, if you're not too ambitious.

The dinosaurs had there shot on this planet and they died suddenly and dramatically. We on the other hand have had our chance and we are intent on destroying what we have and what we have achieved. The world will end in silence as the world herself fades to death
