On monday when my due period did not come on I took a test in the evening.....the result was a faint positive line - but it did read positive. Now it is wednesday a.m. and I began to bleed like the beginning of my period.....I retested and the test today just reads negative. I guess it must mean I'm not actually pregnant after all but I dont understand why it read positive the 1st time - has any body experienced any thing like this or has any advice, I just feel very confused & disappointed. Thanks

More than likely, you experienced a "chemical pregnancy". Basically, this is a miscarriage that occurs within a week or so of your period being due. Unfortunately, this is pretty common. If you had waited a few days to test, you would have just thought that your period was late. I'm so sorry that you've had to deal with this. It is normal to be upset and disappointed about this loss, so be sure to talk with someone if you need to.

You must feel very disappointed, but sadly this happens all the time and can happen to any woman. Sometimes the egg is fertilsed but it doesn't implant properly.
This could have happened to you lots of times before without you even knowing about it. It is the danger of testing early. Years ago when pregnancy tests were not available, women could be 8 weeks pregnant and then have a miscarriage and not even really know it.
The thing to do is not dwell on the idea that you had a miscarriage. That will make you sad. Just think that your period came a little late.

Next month could be very different. Good luck!

Yes i have had not a faint positive but a big fat one and i wasn't pregnant,Wanting to be pregnant can play awful tricks on you and your eyes, sometimes a woman looks so hard at a test they think thee evaporation line becomes apparent to them i have now learned if you are pregnant it will show so dont worry you dont need to look hard but as a pregnancy test progresses the chemicals start to change so for example if your test reads negative in the 2 minute mark(the readable time frame for most tests) you should wait maximum 5 minutes after this time there is a rapid chemical change which causes thee evaporation line to darken and cause the test to look positive its not always a colourless line i can guarantee that as mine was blue and dark people think it isn't possible to get a false positive in this way i can assure everyone it is not only by personal experience but in my job i have seen many. But ofcorse there is always the chance of early miscarriage which i have wrote more about below

An early miscarriage is the spontaneous loss of pregnancy during the first 20 weeks of gestation. It can also be called a spontaneous abortion

Early miscarriage is very common. As many as 30% of women will experience one, usually before they even miss a period, or realize they are pregnant. Most early miscarriages are a result of a developing fetus that is unhealthy and has little chance of surviving to the end of pregnancy.

Signs of early miscaraige:
Vaginal bleeding. Especially heavy bleeding with passage of blood clots.
Abdominal pain. Severe or persistent pain in the pelvis or lower back.
Blood clots. Grayish matter may pass as the miscarriage begins. This is the embryo and placenta. If you do pass tissue at home your health care provider will likely instruct you to collect the tissue and place it in a clean jar to bring in for medical inspection.
The early ending of morning sickness symptoms and loss of breast tenderness. Many women experience these symptoms in the first trimester, but by the beginning of the fourth month of pregnancy, they commonly subside. When women experience a loss of these symptoms earlier than the second trimester, and if symptoms subside abruptly, miscarriage may have occurred. The technical term for this occurrence is a "missed abortion."

I strongly feel as you do not state any symptoms of early miscarraige you have had a false positive this time try not to work yourself up about it and stay positive about becoming pregnant goodluck

it sounds like you have had a very Early miscarriage the only reason a test would be pos if there was hcg hormone present that is the the hormone that shows up when you are pregnant most people have early miscarriages and don't even know they just think that their period was a few days late you just happened to take a test most people don't so it goes unnoticed i would do a test after you stop bleeding just incase i had a couple of periods when i was pregnant some people do if still unsure go to the doctors good luck

It is not possible to get a + result unless the Hcg hormone is detected, so if followed the following day by - it maybe a early miscarriage, was the period light it could have been the result of implantation bleeding. Without getting your hopes up if it was light try another test:o)

i have experienced this so i know how you feel. its known as a chemical pregnancy. where you have a fertilised egg but has just been unable to continue for some reason. Its far more common than you realise. years ago women never knew anything about it cause they didn't have accurate home pregnancy tests that we have. they would have just thought their period was late. I'm sure it will happen for you when the time is right. GOOD LUCK

I took several tests and got both negatives and positives. What gives? See FAQ 9 above; there are many variables-- concentration of urine, sensitivity of the test. Since true false positives are pretty rare, if you get at least one positive HPT, you are probably pregnant. Wait a couple of days and test again or try another brand if you are suspect. If you suspect you have a true false positive (meaning you did not conceive and still got a positive

It could be that an egg did get fertilised and your body started producing HCG, and then, for whatever reason, you had a very early miscarriage. I know it's devastating to have had your hopes raised, and I really wish you all the best - good luck with becoming pregnant again.
