Not in every shop I know, but in so many it seems that the staff just don't care very much about being polite or friendly.

Sorry to be a grumpy guts but I have just asked 4 other happy questions so I think I can have this one. LOL

You might be grumpy as well if you were paid the minimum wage and treated like so much trash by your employers and some customers. I know some shop workers are rude and unhelpful (whereas some are polite and give great customer service) but have you seen the state of some of the customers and how they speak to people working in shops? I think a comeback of manners is in order, all round!

Yes, yes and yes again.

You ring one of those places where the customer services are packed into one little room, about 100 of them in space for 25, all sitting with headphones on, no training on the product there supposed to be looking after, and probabaly just out of school or university. You're on a looser straight away.

They have no idea, and all you want is to get your answer and go.

No such luck. The person on the end of the phone, only has answers to a small selection of questions, and surprise, surprise yours isn't amongst them.

STRESS, STRESS, FRUSTRATION, FRUSTRATION, MOAN, MOAN followed by slamming the phone down, then a quick rant around the house before you have to pick up the phone and start again, hoping to find the next person who picks up your call has a little more about them.

I agree: it was getting better for awhile but it has started to go down again. It has never been great been great in the UK. MY rule of thumb for service is to make sure the staff are UK asians or foreignors, they tend to be the friendliest and most helpful. I stay away from any English people in the shop.

I HEARTILY AGREE!! My husband and I were just talking about that the other day after an extremely unfriendly grouch waited on us in a restaurant. Saved us 'tip' money! but I have noticed it in stores and everywhere. Like you said, not everyone, but if I had some of these people working for me? they wouldn't be working for me!!

Actually, I agree with you. In most businesses, they act like they only want our money then we can *ss off!
At the worst places, there are few enough to help us select purchases and spend our money in the first place.
Bleech!

Sometimes it can work both ways, where i work some customers can be so rude, so how can you possibly expect to get such politeness back in return.
