Scale 1:100
Actual length = 7 metres
length on map = (7x1000 mm)/100 = 70 mm

Scale 1:250
Actual length = 5 metres
length on map = (5 x 1000 mm)/250 = 20 mm

Scale 1:1000000
Actual length = 48 km
length on map = (48 x 1000000 mm)/1000000 = 48 mm

Scale 1:500000
Actual length = 80 km
length on map = (80 x 1000000 mm)/500000 = 160 mm
