I am about 5 or 6 weeks pregnant, so they say. I awoke this morning to find that i had light bleeding and a few small clots when i went to the bathroom. i called my mum and went to the hospital where i explained the symptoms and was givin an ultrasound. It appears that my gestational sack is empty, But they had trouble getting a good look at it. I have no more bleeding since that first spotting this morning ( it is now7.10 pm) and the cramping has dissapeared and turned into a faint sick feeling. Is there hope that they were wrong?? This is very different from my misscarriage last year. Please help as i am going nuts. The doctors said it is pretty much 100 percent it is lost. I just dont feel that way. Am i setting myself for more heart ache. Has anyone had simmilar experiences???

With the first one i bleed for 5 days until i lost a clump of tissue that equated to about 4 grapes, with severe unable to stand cramps. If i am about the same point in my pregnancy, shouldnt it be similar??? I only bleed that once today, and 4 or 5 extremely small clots.

I'm sorry. There is really nothing to say when this kind of thing happens. I caried my first baby to 4 mo. I had the best obgyn and I had my baby journal in my lap (it came with "what to expect..") The nurse refused to check again. "See those wiggly lines around the fetus..?" I hated her for her clinical diagnosis. You did it before and you can do it again. Allow yourself the time to grieve.

i had a miscarriage 2 years ago, i lost it at 9 weeks but it was a missed miscarriage so i didnt find out i miscarried till i went for my 12 week scan. im now 16 weeks pregnant with my 2nd pregnancy and at 5 weeks i had bleeding and went to see the doctor. they scanned me and told me that the discharge i had was old blood that hadnt been expelled from my body probabl from implantation but on the scan they couldnt see much but there was a little flickering on the screen and they said it was the heartbeat and everything was fine. if i were you id go see another dr and if he says the same thing tell him it feels different and ask him to look around a bit till hes certain.
good luck

Im realy sorry, sounds like you are desparate for a baby, there's always hope but seems that this time its false hope.
Both of my sisters have mis-carried and i know how much it hurt them. But they both now have 2 healthy children now, so maybe now is not the right time for you.
The only thing i can relate to reguarding an empty sack is my cousin . When she was pregnant her scan showed 2 sacks but 1 was empty. Was it a twin ? or was it always empty ? there was no way of telling.
She likes to think that there never was a baby to lose, thats how she deals with it. All the best xx

first of all sorry for your previous miscarriage.
secondly unfortunately it sounds like you lost this one too, i know you dont want to hear bad news, but at 5 weeks there is still very little blood to be lost... i had a miscarriage too in 2004 and i was already 2 months pregnant but i was not sure i had lost it coz the blood was quite little.... unfortunately my doctor did a check up and yes it was a miscarriage, i was then cleaned up.
I would go to another doctor for a second opinion, just to clear things up. since sometimes pregnant women do have spotting in the first months that does not necessarily mean miscarriage.
Good Luck dear.

at 5 week a lot of scans cant see a baby yet, just the sac, but it depends on the quality of the scan. i guess you could go to another doc, with a very good ultrasound machine, they could tell you for sure.
sorry you going through this, ive had a miscarige before too, its very upsetting.
