I moved 220 miles away from where I grew up and don't regret it at all. I have family here so it might be different for me, I knew people and the place very well. I moved away for many reasons, mainly too many 'ghosts'. I needed a new start. I was suffering from depression and needed to get away, so i moved with my husband. We are still together 5 years on and I have recovered 100% and now even have a little baby boy!

when I first moved away from home I bought a cheap flat and found out, to my horror, that I was in a white 'ghetto' in a mainly black community with a lot of race hatred around. In fact, on my second morning, the milkman cheerfully advised me that a young white man had been murdered by four black men just outside my front door! I couldn't afford to move, and stayed there for four years (mostly barricaded in!) until I had sufficient money to move. Actually I sold at a good profit, since the area was deemed 'up and coming' but I never looked back. It was a shithole then, and is still a shithole today.

I moved from a crowded urban area to a rural area almost a year ago. It's a mixed bag. Some things are better, some are worse. I think I would have benefited by spending some vacation time here before moving. If you have that option available, spend a month living there before moving. get yer feet wet, so to speak.

yes i moved to a new area last year and i hate it i love the house i just wish i could move to my old area and take my new house with me
