"do you think its wrong"

Yes. It violates some pretty dearly held standards of etiquette.

"Any tips and ideas on how i should go about it."

If you absolutely have to, be honest. "I am in need." Don't make it out like you're doing something fun for your friends; it's a gift-grab -- be square about that.

That said, if you just want a party, why not have a little tea some weeks after the baby's born to introduce him or her to your friends, without calling it a 'shower' and without all the gift expectations 'shower' holds?

Sure you can!

I have been to showers before and after the birth, there's no rules. Ettiquette schmettiquette.

You could do it lots of ways - if you have a group of close girlfriends and family then choose a date, choose a place, and then call them and let them know you're having a party to celebrate your baby. Ask them if they can bring a pot luck plate.

Or if you have a bit more money to spare you could call caterers and have them take care of the food and service and just let you and your guests have a good time.

Close friends will probably want to help, as might your mother, your baby's father's mother, your sisters... people love baby showers! You can assign each of them a job to do - one does the cake, one does decorations etc, people like to feel like they're helping, especially when you are having or have just had a baby.

It can be as formal or as casual as you want it to be, like I said there are no rules.

There are plenty of websites out there that can give you hints and tips, and "to do" lists.

If this is what you want then go for it.

Enjoy your baby.

You can do what ever you want, honey. It's your baby, have fun! I hope you have a great baby shower and good luck with everything to come. :)

You can, but I would get someone else to host it for you. For one of my baby showers two friends hosted, but asked for my input with food and games. We did this because, we surprised someone else that we worked with and she didn't like the food.

No, not really. Have you no family at all, friends, co-workers?

I'm not going to say it's wrong but it is kind of tacky...I know I wouldn't do it.
