i have developed s/w using vb6/access 2000 platform. i want to create demo cd of that s/w. The s/w should be used for say 30 days and the cd can't be copied. Any suggestions?

First, you need to know that there is no foolproof way of doing what you've described - you may come pretty close on one part, but not the other. You can keep out most, but

While I'm not 100% up to speed on vb6 syntax, I can describe what needs to be done. The easiest way that I know would be to have the app create an .ini file buried in a system folder with the install date and have it check against that, and then using an if...then statement in a sub that runs on startup have it check that file and if x days since the day on file have passed, pop up a notification that the trial period's ended, and prompt them to upgrade to the full version, and force the program to close once they click OK.

As for preventing the CD from being copied, good luck - numerous companies have spent millions trying to figure that one out, and haven't come close to a solution.

hey you could always hire a "hacker" type to write an evolving virus that evolves on registered end as well as user, and with a random key, that works with this disk, but not that, then store the code inside the data as corrupted or extra parts bla bla bla, dont know if its possible, but heck you could even use a random key and the key instructs your media reader on where to find the segments of the code in the data. a good code person might find the challenge enticing, and take pride in stumping all but the best, thats why id use a 2 way versus 1, but im no code type, good luck.

Hi,

Soory mate, but apparently there is no CD protection that is fool proof. Hackers find a way out easily to even the most complex cd protection.....

Cheers

use nero. if u prefer to easily replica the cd into yet another only press replica button if u prefer to keep the suggestions on your perplexing force stick to following steps: a million.>open nero(i'm using version 8 / 9) 2.>on the placing determination flow to repeat disk-> replace the area you want like my checklist or C force or the different and then initiate coppying. 3.>while the coping is executed and the cd is ejected the two shrink nero or replica it in some yet another place (dont close or cancel it earlier coppying is executed) 4.>u will see an nero document on the area setted above and open it using winrar. 5.>extract the records to an area you want
