Oh my God. Almost all of these people don't have any idea what they are talking about.
Only certain kinds of fish are safe to eat. You absolutely cannot eat shark, mackeral, swordfish and tilefish. Period.
If you eat tuna it can only be "light" tuna and you cannot consume more than six ounces of that per week.
You also cannot eat albacore tuna or tuna steaks at all.
All of these contain high levels of mercury which can cause miscarriage, preterm labor, and physical and mental developmental delays in your child.
You also are advised to stay completely away from salmon because it contains high levels of other pollutants
And sushi is a complete no no.

This is one of the most confusing parts of pregnancy! Just the other day a study was released stating that fish is good for you and your baby! It was shown that the limit set today is too low and that children whose mothers ate more fish than recommended had better social and cognitive skills! However, the mercury and pollutants are a big concern to many doctors so I would discuss this throroughly with YOUR doctor. And as for sushi being a no-no...well that's true and false. RAW sushi is a no no, not cooked sushi. Perhaps you should subscribe to a pregnancy website to get more information on health and nutrition during pregnancy. (www.babycenter.com, www.pregnancyweekly.com) Don't freak out if you ended up eating something you supposedly shouldn't have...a small dose of fish or deli meat won't hurt your child.

Yes. And I have just read in the paper that if fish is eaten during pregnancy, the child born is brilliant. Of course, this does not mean that you should eat fish alone, but one can include fish in diet.

I was told it is safe to eat seafood in pregnancy as long as it is cooked fully and served piping hot!! Must only be eaten in moderation too, like once or twice a week.. Apart from shark and swordfish as they contain high amounts of mercury which isn't good in pregnancy and should not be eaten at all..

My ob/gyn says that the biggest problem in the medical community for us pregnant women whilst it comprises fish is nutrition poisoning. Our immune structures are compromised making nutrition born ailment much extra in all hazard. verify that something you devour is cooked each and each of how via and nevertheless heat each and each of how via. Mercury can pose a concern in case you devour ocean fish on a daily basis, yet each now and then isn't a concern.

yes. fresh fully cooked and carefully canned. sushi should be avoided because of the risk of food poisoning which could cause intractable vomiting leading to preterm labor or electrolyte disturbance that can effect both mother and child.

it is fine, because fish have amino acids in them which build cells. just be wary of undercooked fish or fish that may contain parasites, as that would be harmful to the child. also, try avoiding tuna, because tuna has traces of mercury in it, and even small amounts could also be hazardous to the fragile child.
