Make a disc of your work and then work the galleries like mad. There are sometimes artists that need an assistant. Or a figure model. You can put the word out with the people that have contacts while touting your own material: talk to gallery owners and ask for a contact sheet. Get their suggestions. You can also print your images on t-shirts, cards or use your graphics in advertisement. If you're in a larger city you may be able to get a job at a magazine. They offer internships. Good luck. We're all in the same job race together. I once read that Art and Religion are from the same root and that Art and Commerce have nothing in common. Your job is to find a way to keep your personal artistic integrity intact, now. I hate the commerce part, myself...but sometimes the commentary on your work from others can be quite, quite useful.
Seriously, it just takes alot of backbone and even more effort than a job at a fast food chain.
You can do it: Good luck and don't give up!
VERY IMPORTANT: Make some business cards. ALWAYS have a couple of discs of your work in your car. Make prints of your work, professionally, if possible (Sometimes campuses have print shops.) If one person is interested, believe me, the word spreads within a few minutes in a gallery. Non-artists love to link themselves with actual artists. Makes them feel they have a like-spirit if not a like-mind. Be humble. But don't be a doormat. Make it seem as though you want commentary more than anything. But don't undersell your work. You WON'T be pleased with yourself or the buyer later.

You can make websites or sell website templates, if you work alongside a programmer.
