Personally, I like the epsidoes from season 1 better than the rest, where they had more appeal and actually revolved around a plot. I don't think any of the characters are as good to me that I have to pick a funny one, but then I only watch the show for Lisa, who has the best character of them all.
Homer is an idiot and the writers try too hard these days to put in stupid jokes that don't mean anything. Bart is just a moron and goes nowhere in the series, Maggie, I would say is the second one I like most and Margejust went from being a good mother to someone that breaks my insomia at 3 in the morning. Every other character I never pay attention to.

i'd say out of the 'simpson' family it would be homer. But I think the funniest character not in the simpson family is Apu!

It HAS to be Homer, he has all the funny phrases that you can't help but laugh even if its not funny. Every episode has one supid phrase by him
E.g.
Homer: I didn't think it was gonna fall over!
(A castle explodes and the show ends)
Bart: The best part was when the buildings fell down!
Lisa: Yeah. Maybe people got hurt.
Homer (chuckling): Hey, you're right.
Come on ya all love him XD
