Can you store up sleep?

Question

Is it possible to store sleep?
What I mean is, if I sleep for 10 hours a night for the next 2 months, will that help me at all if I then only get 5 hours a sleep for 2 months after that?
If you have a good night's sleep, how long does that sleep last you for?

Studies have shown that you cannot store up sleep.

You cannot really store up sleep. If you oversleep, this can be just as bad for you as too little sleep. You need to sleep for a time which suits your body clock. However, it is possible to occasionally have a long sleep one time if you know that you need to stay awake longer the next day, or to catch up on sleep when you have stayed up for longer than usual. Again, your body will know how much sleep it needs.

A good nights sleep will help you for perhaps a couple of nights , but you can't "store" sleep.

I dont think you can store sleep :)
May be if you have more sleep one day. next day you may go to bed late. It works only for short period. I dont think it works 1 month sleeping more and following month sleeping less not possible.. sleep is more immediate cycle . just like hunger/eating.
You can not eat full one month. and next month starving. It usually 24hour cycle.

to a cetain extent yes, most night workers rely on getting as much sleep as possible when thet can, although you tend to use the extra energy up before a week or so, so do not keep it for long
