i knew a guy who had to work 2 jobs to pay child support just for 1 kid and i thought that was so ridiculous. he told me how much he had to pay and i couldn't freakin' believe it. i couldn't imagine having to spend that much just on a kid's basic needs. i know kids are expensive, but i don't think it's fair to ruin a guys' life either. i wonder if women really use all the child support money on their kids, or whether they have some fun with it, buying things they went for themselves. what do you think? i'm definitely not having sex without birth control!

I used to pay my husbands child support cos he was just useless with money. I gave an increase on my own one month but the next month it just slipped my mind, so I gave it to her the next day. It was on a Friday and you know what she said to me? "oh good now I've got drinking money for tonight!" Some women take total advantage but I also really feel for the very many who don't get a cent!

actually no longer. States have baby help guidelines. those guidelines are designed to approximate how a lot earnings the youngster would obtain from the obligor’s paycheck. How is the custodial discern meant to record this? the following is the grocery bill, your baby didn’t eat any of the carrots yet drank 60% of the milk? can we've separate means and water meters on the youngster’s room? lots of the prices that child help is going to pay finally end up being kin prices (groceries, means, etc.). it isn't sensible to assume a custodial discern to at least one after the other account for all the cost of residing will boost that are presented on by the youngster. If the obligor has a difficulty with how they imagine the money is being spent, enable them petition the courtroom and observe what the decide has to say. To mandate such an accounting serves actually no valid objective. Oh, inspite of what some human beings look to imagine, virtually all of custodial moms and dads are not to any extent further receiving a small fortune each month in baby help.

No! The well-being of a child is way more important than any price to pay! The children are our future and they need to be supported and educated enough to help shape the world into a better place! Everything costs money, but when the money is being spent on a beautiful hope for tomorrow, you have to spare every cent you have! I can't believe that you would say child support is too much! Child support isn't even enough to guarantee a child will have money for college.Child support sometimes only pays the bills for some families and causes families to loose encouragement for their children, when they have to say "sorry, we can't afford to buy you school supplies"!

I am also a kid. But I do not need to spent so much money. Maybe the guy's child is a baby or age 1 to 7, if not he would not need to spent so much money because child which age is 8 and above should hav sense that making money is hard for parents.
If his child is really age 1 to 7 or is a baby, the guy will ned to buy a lot of things like pampers, milk and many more. If the child is 8 and above, then the guy will be working for both his wife and child.

1. if the child support for one kid is that high percentage of his regular income, he must have gotten the order when he made more money (or he could be paying arrears). If so, ask the court for an adjustment based on his current income.

2. Mothers spend child support on alot of things, not just "things for the baby". It is their responsibility to spend it responsibly for "the betterment of the child". Tht could mean it pays a light bill or the rent. That could mean she gets a haircut or a new outfit so she can go to the interview for a better job. That could mean she puts it in the gasoline tank so the child can get to school or daycare. It is up to the custodial parent to decide how to spend it for the betterment of the child.

If you have a child, I have two and I am still married to their mother, it is your responsibility to care for them. If you decide to be an absent parent then you pay the price. I give my time and money to my children. If you are not willing to give your time then it stands to reason you should give more money. You know the saying "time is money"? So that's my take on it. If he is paying a ridiculous amount it may be because he was ducking child support for a while and is in arrears.

what an ignorant statement.

first of all, if he was working two jobs and the amount was high, that means he was paying toward arrears (from when he ran around thinking he could just 'not pay'). that or the child has needs that are included in the child support, such as medical insurance, daycare expenses, etc.

you dont know, because you were not there. some people tend to speak in half truths, leaving out parts so that the issue reflects in such a way that is positive on them.

you will also hear whining from people who pay (male or female) because they ASSUME its spent on other things, simply because they cant add.

Child Support today is based upon BOTH parents incomes in most states. if one parent isnt working, the court calculates an income for them (minimum wage if non skilled) and adds it in.

depending upon your age, of course you are going to think its a huge amount, but trust me, most of the time it just covers food for the week.

you pay what? 400? 600? 900?

ok, lets see...
rent; 1000
electric 300
food 400-600
diapers 75-150 per month (fluctuates when baby is sick or teething)
heat 300
phone/cable 100
auto; (for doctors, dentists, take to school when they miss the bus, pick up when sick, pick up medicines, get food) 200
clothing/shoes/boots 200-400 every 2 to 3 months (seasonal and they grow)

that doesnt even include dental, doctors, glasses, daycare, hair cuts, school supplies, school projects, class trips, class pictures, over the counter medicines, prescriptions, laundry det, dish det, cleaners, soap, shampoo, toothpaste, christmas, easter, halloween, tooth fairy, birthdays, etc. and sooo much more.

in my house, the children go through 1 gallon of milk per day; thats 3.50x 30.... almost $100 a MONTH ON JUST MILK.

thats right, JUST milk alone.

if you still cant do the math, try calling 1-800- I CANT ADD

just so you can see the amounts for yourself, here is some child support calculator; just click on your state and fill in minimum wage job amounts.

see for yourself, before assuming.

If he thinks it too much he can go to court and get the amount he pays modified. Child support goes according to income. I get a good amount every month, and a good portion goes to a college fund.
