P. Neville means Pants Neville (Cause... you get the picture)

He used to have the G. when his brother Phil used to play for united. When Phil left, Gary decided that he wanted to keep the G. on his shirt.

It has absolutely nothing to do with the extra cash made from printing extra letters on fan's shirts

the g was placed on the back of gary's shirt to avoid confusion when his brother phil was still playing for man utd.

i believe he didn't bother removing the g on his back in recognition and honour of brother phil.

Initially it was to differentiate between him and his younger brother Phil when both were at Man U.

I suppose it stays there because either:

1. He is too used to having the 'G' there that he doesn't want it removed.
OR
2. They are expecting Phil to return someday.
