A) USC and UCLA both have very good academic reputations.
B) USC won two straight national championships in football, UCLA has won more collegiate sports national championships than any other university.
When considering these two facts I find it difficult to understand your "they both suck hard" comment. USC's Russian Lit. program is, admittedly, sub par. Could this be what you meant?

C) Why do we hate each other? We're rivals. What do you expect? But that wasn't really the question you were asking was it.

USC hates UCLA because UCLA claims to be in Los Angeles, but is located in Westwood. USC, on the other hand, is located in Los Angeles. UCLA is a poser.

There's also the matter of the have and have-not. UCLA's tuition is cheaper, yet it's located in a nicer area, while USC's tuition is higher, but it's located in a seedy area.

They both claimed to be from Los Angeles, even though only USC is really located in L.A..

They hate each other because when one school is close to being the National Champions (back before the BCS), the other school would hand that school a defeat, which knocks it out of the National Champion picture.

Man you crazy. UCLA is the best school ever. GO BRUINS!

By the way Superdork, UCLA is in Westwood, which is a neighborhood of Los Angeles, just like USC is in University Park also a neighborhood of Los Angeles. University Park is south of downtown LA while Westwood is in west LA.

because theyre cross town rivals you moron. and judging by your question /answer history, im astonished that; 1) you can correctly spell academics and 2) you even care about a schools academic reputation.

***side note...walking into a job interview in SO CAL (LA being one of the biggest business markets in the country, if not the biggest) with USC or UCLA on your resume virtually guarentees the job. just so long as you dont talk yourself out of it.

Uh...Because they are archrivals...A case could be made for USC and Michigan, or USC and Notre Dame, but the proximity of the schools adds to the rivalry...so UCLA is really USC's archrival...
