80% of humanity, the religious folks, don't need to ask the meaning of life, the church tells them....the supernatural explanation. But the rest of us can't swallow religious dogma, because there's no evidence. Nobody can prove that there life after death, that people are tortured or rewarded after life or that there's invisible spirits running around.
I've come to two conclusions recently:
1. Life has no meaning
2. Life has a million meanings.
First, there's a certainty that death and annihilation awaits not only you, but the Earth in general. It's an astonomical certainty that our sun will supernova and leave the earth a burnt crisp, not to mention all the other extinction level events around the corner.
Second, the million things that give us meaning are the pleasurable experiences we can conjure up during the short period we are here on the earth, in the form of the relationships we have with our kids and other people, and the 'housekeeping' types of purposes. What i mean by that are the curing disease, ending hunger, improving literacy, reducing crime, preventing war, helping other kinds of things.
So the bottom line is, we only have a temporary meaning to life, to reduce pain and increase pleasure, other than that everything is lost to oblivion.
To be or not to be? "To be" is temporary and "not to be" is inevitable.....

What it isn't, is that which takes us away (robs) us and our love ones from the most important things that matter in our life. It can be just about anything, from money to power to additions.
It is a personal destination in ones life. We search for what we may determine it to be and sometimes find it. I believe it is living a good life and trusting in something far greater than ourselves. It is a natural adventure with a spiritual outcome.

Perhaps life is like a work of art, existing for its own sake. Here we are, each one of us splattered upon our own canvas and put on display in the giant museum of the world. Take the time to step back and appreciate life for what it is instead of asking "why" and you could very well find that the meaning lies beyond the boundaries of words and reason.

The meaning of life is to live and to experience.
Conversely, the only two things that are not part of meaning of life are death and the state of non-existence (both before and after living).

The meaning of life is not ones self. It is not ones own way, in the time one wants to direct, it is not possession, nor is it total independence, nor co-dependence,oh I could go on forever on what is NOT the meaning of life. But, here I will tell you the meaning of my life- to love my God,(not by telling others what to do, but by doing what I believe my God loves.) Which leads me to my 2nd purpose and meaning- to love (not just those whom I cherish and are dearest to me)but EVERYONE, yes as difficult as it might be at times to show love for someone, love is the answer, and last but not least- to serve. To get outside of that which is me (that I'm too busy, I want, I need, I dint want to right now)and just simply care for someone else. I don't succeed all the time, but it's about progress not perfection in this life. To me- that's what it's all about, man. Peace and Blessings to you!

Star question... I like the twist!!
To be ever in search of a non-existent grandiose purpose of life in general, is certainly not what the life is meant for.

Hello ! liquid man.
Hopelessness, emptiness loneliness cut off from God .
No human being can fill this emptiness apart from God.
This is why so many are searching in all directions but never filled, the search goes on.
Standing on ones own righteousness with no eternal future to look forward to.
Take care!
Take care!
