Periods(menestrual) occur only in Primates( an order under class Mammalia). They include monkeys, Apes and human females. In rest of the mammals there is another cycle called oestrous cycle (Heat period), which is particular season in the year when their females make breeding and invite their respective males for coupulation. Examples are cow, dog, goat etc.

They don't have "periods" in the sense that humans do but they do come "in season" or have periods of estrous.
Mating usually only occurs during estrous. During this time hormones cause the female to be receptive to the males advances and they can become pregnant. She cannot become pregnant unless she is in estrous.
Only the higher apes and humans have menstrual cycles and are receptive to sex even when they are not ovulating.

anni,
Mammalian creatures all do. Dolphins and whales in the sea, dogs, cats, deer...and human beings.
Bats...are mammals, and yeah, they go through regular cycles as well.
