My battery split and leaked acid into engine causing the plate underneath the battery and the surrounding metal to have the paint striped away. The autoelectrician put what i think is blue rust preventer (the same stuff that is on the terminals) on the plate, is this enough to prevent further rusting or should i paint with rust preventing enamel?? Thanks

If I were you I would clean the area good and buy a can of primer first prime and then paint, if you find primer is expensive go to a accident repair shop and ask them to prime it. its always good to keep a small amount of touch up paint as well

If clear coat paint was painted on that area, then it should not be striping the paint. If it is, clean the area thoroughly and go to your neighborhood auto parts store and buy a spray can of clear coat. Napa stores sell one called crystal clear. This will protect it.

what was used should be fine, but adding additional paint may not be a good idea, depending on whether or not the blue stuff is a dry, and not a wet coating.
