It's how to make a lot of money selling a book about nothing very much. There is no secret, many of the ships that were supposed to have disappeared in the area were actually lost elsewhere. The famous lost squadron of fliers was lost in the area, but the leader of the squad had a reputation for getting lost. When all the faked evidence is subtracted, the triangle is no more dangerous than any other stretch of the Atlantic.

I remember hearing statistically, number of lost planes, ships in Bermuda Triangle is not that high compare to other area with high traffic (ships, planes...etc). And freak weathers and abnormal magnetic phenomena have been observed in other parts of the ocean besides Bermuda Triangle. It's really difficult to say if there really is something special about Bermuda Triangle or if it is due to few prominent stories about lost ships and planes that created Bermuda Triangle legendary.

The secret is that it's just a normal place. Back in the 70's a guy wrote a book about it and claimed that aliens lived under the sea in it and he made a fortune and the folk lore continues. A follow up book "Bermuda Triangle - Solved" debunked the whole myth but most people ignored it.It was more fun believing in aliens, ghost ships and myths.

i think i got three answers. 1st, because in the ocean floor there is a lot of volcanic activity and forms huge bubble that are hot, when a boat passes by, it makes it crash and break into pieces. 2nd, there is a secret government base in a island in the middle of the Bermuda Triangle and the government just tells those stories for people would get scared and wont go there. 3rd and Finlay, maybe it has to do with an inter-dimension that could take you to another dimension.
