How do the characters relate to one another? Does their interaction remind you of anything you've read or learned in the book(chapters 1-8)?

There are two distinct leaders in the novel (I don't remember their names off hand; one is "Jack," I think). Piggy is a sort of advisor/ loyal friend. Simon is the Christ figure. If you want to impress your instructor (I'm guessing you are in school) mention Simon as a Christ figure. Lie and say you read ahead. He sacrifices himself. And only he knows the truth about the "monster."
The rest of the boys are followers. They are like "the Plebians" in Julius Caesar: they are easily persuaded and influenced. What was a tragedy of sorts quickly devolves into a struggle of will and humanity for the boys.
That said, please read the book. Even if not for the class. This is a good book and a nice, short read.
