The title refers to the Boy George song which Dil performs. It's about heartbreak - which Dil certainly suffers with the loss of Jody. (And understandably she might be worried that there'll never be another man to love her like he did - because she's a he.)

But the hearbreak ends in the relationship that develops with Fergus, as unconventional as it might be...I still remember the shock when I saw this movie for the first time. I was at a theatre that hands out a program and I instantly turned to it to look up the name of the "actress" playing Dil - as did about ten other people around me.

Of course, these days I wouldn't be so easily fooled - it wasn't exactly a convincing drag act. But I'm willing to suspend my disbelief - it's a great film.

Here are the lyrics to the song:

I know all there is to know about the crying game
Ive had my share of the crying game

First there are kisses, then there are sighs
And then before you know where you are
Youre sayin goodbye

One day soon Im gonna tell the moon about the crying game
And if he knows maybe hell explain

Why there are heartaches, why there are tears
And what to do to stop feeling blue
When love disappears

I know all there is to know about the crying game
Ive had my share of the crying game

First there are kisses, then there are sighs
And then before you know where you are
Youre sayin goodbye

Dont want no more of the crying game

i think it got the title because of the heartache that the people who are born into different genders than they feel they should be have finding love and acceptance!! maybe im wrong, whenever i hear that song i cringe because its so sad and deathly! i dont like the song, but i did enjoy the film i can remember that i wasnt that old when i saw it and didnt know that woman was a bloke (i was very young) and the shock when i realised i can still feel - was really shocked.

I found it rather sad, because I really had high hopes for the male character to love that "woman" as though "she" were the love of his life. Well, she was until "she" turned out to be a HE. Imagine my shock when that twist was revealed. I cried and cried (and cried) all week long after seeing the film and it was no game to me either. It was serious.

they knew the viewers would cry when the game was exposed with the pee-pee scene...

I laughed, I cried, I got back in line...

It was much better than Cats - I'll see it again and again...
