i have to switch off the main power switch than it shut down. pls help

some newer pcs can just safely shut down if u hit the power button

I don't know if this is why your computer is doing it, but I have the same thing happening to my computer. it always happens when I have used my usb port. It doesn't matter what it is, (camera, scanner, mp3) but when I shut down my computer, I must do the same thing as you. I had three techs look at it and all of them gave me lame excuses ranging from Windows causing it (Of course, who EVER heard of Windows working in the first place?) to using high speed devices on non-high speed usb connectors.
If this sounds like your problem, then you are probably left with three solutions.
1. You can continue to do as you are doing.
2. Reboot your computer after taking off the peripheral, then shut it down again.
3. Upgrade. If you choose to upgrade, try to get a friend to help you. It is really easy to get burned from computer people. I KNOW! I used to be a computer consultant. Computer salespeople are the new car/insurance salespeople.

sounds like a software issue, which operating system? What Brand of computer?
If this is recent, and you installed a new piece of software, uninstall the new software or restore the computer to a point when it did work.

Check ur system's Power setting.it will solve ur problem. or remove crupted and extra software from ur computer...

this is a common problem i have the same issue with my server it has to do with your power configuration settings
