Othello or maybe called reversi seems to be the only game without guidebooks. I don't know what good moves are there. I only know about unbalanced edges and minimising at the start. Help?

As a general rule, I try not to turn as many of the pieces to my color as possible until after halfway through the game. The more your opponant has, the more, and wiser, moves you can make.

Lock in a side, and obviously, a corner, as soon as possible. Also try to make moves which force your opponant into limited choices... which usually leaves him in bad straights and gives you a corner from where you can run the table.

Avoid placing units next to the corner spaces. The spaces diagonal to the corner spaces are especially dangerous. The corner spaces themselves, of course, are the best because they can never be converted to the opponent.
