i caght a royal flush on the river card and went all in. i did not get a caller but still showed my hand after everyone folded. some say my hand did not exist because i did not get a caller. i showed it to prove it existed so i think it does count. someone help me, does the hand count or not????????

can i count it as my 1st royal flush ever, even if everyone folded and i was not able to present it at the showdown. i did show it after everyone folded though and i won a massive pot with it, but i want recognition for the hand and to be able to say i got a royal flush. can i claim that???????????

Hi,
I recognize it. That's all that matters is you got it. It's history now. Good job.
Have fun playing

This is a fascinating question.
If you roll a single die but keep the number secret, and you have a 2, what is the chance that you will be able to beat out everyone else's number? Well, if 1 other person is playing, you have a 1 in 6 chance (the only chance is that they have a 1). This means that you're behavior is going to be affected and you aren't going to take a risk.
The same thing applies in poker. It's not necessarily true that everyone else will fold based upon what you have in your hand. Furthermore, when you started out with that hand, your actions were completely dependant on what it was.
Since your hand had an affect on YOU, it means that it did matter. It mattered substantially. Do you see how this becomes a philisophical question, now?
The question is that after the game is over, do the other possibilities matter? Yes, they do. You see this in statistics and reality. If you only stop to check how you're doing when you're doing well, you will always find that you're doing well.
Perhaps this is a little off of your point, but hopefully it answers you question.

It counts because you didn't fold. You had a royal flush and you can brag about it by all means. The fact that everyone folded means that it doens't matter what your hand really was because you don't even have to show...but of course, who would believe you had a royal flush inless you showed it. Congrats!!

i guess it counts... but here's 2 things to think about...
1) why'd you go all in? unless you were in last position, you made the one bet that had the least amount of chance to get called...
2) in casinos with poker jackpots, depending on the rules for the jackpot, it might not "count" for the jackpot if there is no showdown. a lot of times the jackpot is a lot bigger than the pot, so checking on the river in a jackpot situation would make sense depending on pot size and jackpot size.

Oh yea, she counts! Just because you didn't see the showdown doesn't make any diference, you still had the royal flush. Congrats and nice hand!

Doesn't matter if your hand counted or not.... after everyone except you has folded, you win the pot.

Yes, it counted. You won the ante (the price everyone paid to get their cards in the first place)

i am not sure about gambling at a casino type place, but in playing with my family it always counted. they have to pay to see your hand. if they fold that means that they give up and are no longer betting so you win.

talking river i assume you are talking texas holdem..if the game was played properly you would have won some money because players would have bet the big and small blinds and bet as flop and turn cards are put down... nice hand!
