There is nothing funny aboout it. It is not only illegal but also prohibited in Islam. The life is something given by the GOD & it is GOD's decision when he want to take it back. "
Not talking about Islam. I'm talking US, where all religious beliefs are supposedly welcome. And I don't believe in 'God' so that is pretty meaningless to me.

a choice between evil and lesser evil...i can't imagine a government condoning its citizenz taking their very own lives, provisions of the law placed them under a suicide watch, medication and counselling, isn't a responsible act? better that we have laws like this.

First of all, suicide is serious business. It is devastating to friends and loved ones. Attempting suicide can get you committed to a psychiatric institution, under the premise of "harmful to oneself or to others ", until a social worker, psycholigist, or a psychaitrist has determined you are safe to leave, most often after counseling or treatment with psychiatric medications.

I think it is hard to charge a corpse with a crime. (so what, leave the ticket in the casket??)
but often you do hear of suicide attempts.
I'd like to know what they actually do to those people, when it seems letting them live in an institution would be punishment enough.

No. It's not funny. It is only funny if you are drugged, drunk, or stupidly unaware of what you are wasting your time thinking about it for.
Go find some paper and write down. I ain't stupid, I just haven't got the correct answer to my reason for living yet.

That's always puzzled me. Who has the right to tell us we have to live when we want to die? Although I pity the loved ones that are left grieving, I think a person has the right to end their own life.

Correction. Suicide isn't illegal. Attempted suicide is, but I still can't see anything funny about it.
