I just got a new hard drive for storage and I was gonna stick the old storage drive in a closet, when it occured to me- can I keep that one as well? That'd be 3 drives, my main drive and 2 storage and I'm wondering if that could somehow tax the machine too much or put too much strain on the fan, etc.

Anyone have any idea on this? I know the "BIOS" can support a certain number of drives, but I have no idea how many or how to even check that.

Thanks in advance for any info!

The cheapest motherboard can usually handle a minimum of 4 hard drives. The bigger issue is whether your power supply has enough juice to safely run them all.
