Practice is the key in scoring in maths. Keep on doing different examples and you will become familiar on how to solve certian problems using maths.
Understand what the property of the formula is for is also a good way, but you will still need to apply them in a question, so again, practice.
Work out time to marks ratio, eg: 100 marks exams 60 mins, 20 questions. 1 question takes up about 5 marks or 3 minutes, also include time for checking.

Show all your steps for all your problems, i am in a college level calculus course right now, and our teacher gives lots of partial credit, soo even if your steps may be wrong or if you do the problem a diffrent way but get the right answer then you should be able to get more marks. If your not good at math, then definatly go with what you do know, and at least write that down, to gain some partail credit and all. Good luck, college math sounds brutal

go over the basics.
Most of the people I tutor have a weak grasp of the basics. When you have those down, you can really focus on the hard stuff (and not make simple mistakes).
