Somehow I lost wordpad, calculator and paint, and maybe some other things. I've been using MS operating systems since MSDOS 2, so am pretty computer saavy and KNOW I did not manually delete them and know the files themselves are gone, not just the shortcuts.

I also know how to restore them...what I want to know is what happened?

Anyone know why these things go bye-bye? It's a first for me (or first time I noticed anyway since they're kinda worthless).

If they're "kinda worthless" then I wouldn't worry too much about them. I'd be more worried if their disappearance was due to a virus or a computer hacker.

If the programs are gone from your hard drive totally like you say then I the only way to get them back is to reinstall them.

Make sure you DON'T have a virus or a hacker deleting them before you freak out. I recon you should update your virus definitions and firewall just in case anyway and keep them up to date.
