what type of socks do you wear in your skates? I wear typical cotton athletic tubes, but they get wet and my feet get cold. I've heard to wear thin, but then you don't get the absorption. I've also heard to go barefoot, but then I get rubs and my feet get slimy. Do they make socks similar to cycling or outdoors socks, e.g. coolmax, that is a good sock inside of hockey skates? Who sells such socks?

I wear the plain cotton tube socks because I have big feet for a woman but smaller than the average men, so the heels in regular socks are never in the right place and they slide around as the socks stretch out. I've never had a problem with them getting wet and my feet getting cold.

The junior hockey players I know all wear long, thin Under Armour socks.

Long, thick socks of any kind are fine. Get the ones that keep your feet dry if your feet sweat, but remember that'll always cost more. If you get rubbing and blisters like zap said (see above), you're not lacing your skates right. The only time socks ever rub and cause blisters is if you don't know how to tie skates.

Depends on personal preference. I once had to play a game without socks because I forgot to bring an extra pair. Ever since I have refused to wear socks while I have my skates on, it is worst for blisters, but you feel the ice better and I feel it makes my stopping and turing better.

high ones, you know, that cover your ankles, i usually use spots socks, they're the most comfy, absorb sweat so your socks will stinck, keeping your skates ever so slightly cleaner for a longer period of time. well, comfort is the main factor really. yeah, you could try cycling socks or such things, but they're very expansive and not really worth the money you pay for them! avarge/ regular sports socks will do the trick!

Sanitary socks or dri-fit running socks. Even dress socks if you can't find anything else. Just make sure they're thin. Thick socks can rub and cause blisters.

Use a layered approach. To combat chaff wear thin stockings - ladies stockings they are great at stopping the rubbing and then wear a thick stock over the top that is wool that will wick the water away from your feet
