I'm very impressed with all that you have listed out. I feel that you have a strong chance of getting into UCSD. However, you should note that there are other factors that may OR may not help you get accepted into UCSD. These factors may include ethnicity, background, personal statement, extracurricular activities, choice of study (also known as 'major'), and your location.

I believe UCSD takes into account the percentages of different ethnicity groups that are accepted into the university. Also, your personal statement can be a strong key point in getting accepted to the university. I believe UCSD's strong majors be in the Division of Biological Sciences, the School of Biology, and Jacob's School of Engineering.

Do your best. Don't give up or slack off. And always have a second choice of where you wish to attend as well. (Please do not make the mistake of only applying for UCSD like some people do.) Good luck! Have a wonderful Day!

Where did you get that top 50 in the nation ranking for your high school? The Newsweek article doesn't include top public magnet schools nor all the many, many privates out there. CA's top public high school isn't on that list, but it is specifically mentioned in the list of schools that everyone asks about but didn't qualify under their methodology cuz it had too many smart kids.

Anyways, if you're asian, you're on the borderline low end. GPA is good and so are those SAT IIs. It's the SAT I that's on the lower end. So, I hope you have a decent amount of extra currics. Do that and write a compelling essay and I think you've got a good shot.

I'd really apply to a major you're interested in. Don't try to game the system. UC SD is especially weird cuz you've got to rank the colleges within it. Puts you in a tougher spot if you do game yourself in but want to get out of the college you got into.

And yes, definitely pick backups. I don't understand kids who don't pick backups. Pick some school that's really hard to get into and get rejected. Don't deserve to get into that good school if they're that stupid. Especially the ones that have big plans of being some doctor or other career that requires grad school, making the undergrad not very important.

I think you had a great shot, but make sure you don't slack off. the major is up to you. Look like your strong point are math and chemistry so look for major that might related to math and chemistry.
