How do I save pictures as a desktop background?

Help! I have tried everything. I found this picture on the web and saved it. Thats fine. I found the photo and it said set as background. But my background is the same boring blue its always been. Can somone tell me how to solve this problem.

right click on desktop--> properties-->desktop-->browse...

browse the image that you want to have as background..

in xp u can right click on the pic or even the thumbnail then choose "set as desktop background". if it doesn't sow up right away, try right-clicking on the desktop and choosing "refresh".
