I am 1 of 4 girls that the All-State choir directors have chosen as the most qualified for a solo and we are auditioning for it thursday. Only thing is that we are singing it in front of the whole choir. I really want the solo but I want to know if there are any ways to conquer my nerves for Thursday & future solo performances.

wow! i can tell your a lot braver then me. I've been in choir for years and i can hardly try out for solos. when i have i try to think of something i like before i go on stage. a lot of the time i totally space out while singing on stage.(you shouldn't try that. your not a total space case like me so your probably not well practiced at spacing while doing something else). what you should try to do on stage is look right into the directors eyes and think of how proud they'll be when your done. that helps me. good luck

The best way to get over nerves is to practice practice practice. The better you know the material the better you will preform it. Everyone gets the jitters, but once your up there and your nailing all your notes, you wont want to come down from the stage. Again... practice practice practice. You wont have to worry about the nerves if you really pratice.

Being scared it part of the experience. Seasoned performers still go through it. Just keep singing and you'll get used to the nerves, then it will start to subside.

Hmmm.. i would say do a mock trial singing by urself in front of the mirror .. tape urself doing it if all possible so u can see where u went wrong and wat is it u doing right as well. U will eventually get better over times, soon u will have the nerve of steel. ;) Good luck!

close your eyes and pretend you are singing just for your Mom or someone (else) you love. and if someday you do mess up, remmeber that a year from now it won't matter.
