I was just curious. If someone was working somewhere and was raped and then shot and then got pregnant from the rape, who pays for that? Does workman Comp cover violent crimes that happen at work or just accidents.

Yes if it was an employee and the violent crime occurred while the employee was working, work comp would cover it. We have actually had claims where people were shot by a coworker or attacked and almost raped by a customer. Work comp might even cover therapy, if it is necessary, I know my company offers it in cases such as these. I'm not sure how the pregnancy thing would go or how far into the pregnancy they would pay for the employee's care or if they would pay for the care during pregnancy at all, but they would at least pay the medical bills and such from the attack. By the way, the people I mentioned before did not try to sue the employer for not screening the employees better or for not protecting the employees better. If you get a settlement from the insurance company for the injuries sustained that's one thing, but going after the employer too? That's going overboard. It's not about getting as much money as you can, it's about getting compensated (fairly, not outrageously) for the injuries and/or trauma that were received. This was a good question.

Good question,Im sure if the person were raped by another employee there would be pretty good grounds for a suit against the company for not screening their employees better, so one way or another workers comp or the companies insurance will be paying some big bucks,if comp payed I would pass and go after the company you would end up getting much more in the long run.
