I just had this done a few months ago..But my son who is only 4, didnt have a fathers name on his birth certificate, because he ran off when I found out I was preg. and is in and out of jail..anyway not the point. Because my son had "no father" I had to pay $368 for all the paper work to the court. I went to court as an uncontested matter she heard what I had to say. And told me I needed a lawyer I got one and she signed it the very next day..I had my sons last name changed to mine and my husbands last name..My husband is the only daddy that my son knows. Anyway it was not that big of a deal took about a week for everything to get straightened out. Good luck!!

Not sure if it works the same way in canada but here in the states we have to go to the courts and file for a legal name change.

You go to your local courthouse and fill out a form and turn it in and pay it, How old are your kids? They might not want their names changed. Have you talked to them about it? They might want the name that they were given at birth. Just because he might have been a bad guy doesn't mean that you should change their name.

the youngsters are too youthful to charm to close - the decision is yours. once you're extra tender with them having your very last call, then substitute it. it really is not any longer a criminal offense. i do not imagine your toddlers would ought to pass to treatment in the journey that they have got a "diverse very last call"; it really is not any longer an significant element. a much extra severe question you would ought to respond to is "the position's daddy", and they're going to ask that no count number what their very last call is. The call is a really minor element of the entire subject, do in simple terms what you sense is sweet, do not over-imagine. If i became in this subject, i'd pick my youthful ones to have my call; if the daddy cared sufficient to pick the youngsters to have his, he would have married me. If we were no longer married, i'd sense i became mainly to blame for the youngsters, for this reason they'd have my call.
